When I was a kid, I had fond memories of the local service station. My mother would pull into the gas station and the tires would run over a hose that triggered a bell. The service station worker would run out and ask us what he could do for us. We might respond with "Fill it up." While the service man was filling up the tank with gas, he would wash the windows and check the oil. When the job was complete he would present us with the bill and say "Have a nice day!" That was outstanding service! It is in great contrast to the automated service stations of today.
